Robert Hartwell

Founder + Artistic Director of The Broadway Collective

Robert Hartwell is the Founder and Artistic Director of The Broadway Collective where he is training the next generation of Broadway artists. Robert holds a high school diploma from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts: School of Drama and a BFA in Musical Theatre from The University of Michigan where he graduated with summa cum laude honors and the Willis Patterson Diversity Award.

He has performed in 5 Broadway shows and 2 National Tours: Dreamgirls, Memphis, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Cinderella, Motown, and Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler. He has performed on the Tony Awards three times and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade twice. Regionally, he has performed at The Muny, Sacramento Music Circus, Hangar Theatre, Music Theatre Wichita, and the Fulton Opera House. As a Director/Choreographer, his work has been seen at Lincoln Center, Music Theatre Wichita, North Carolina Theatre, Pace University, Naples Performing Arts Center, and The University of Michigan.

He is a member of Actors Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA, and the Tony Award-winning Broadway Inspirational Voices. He recently served as the Assistant Director on the National Tour of the Tony Award-winning Revival of Once On This Island.

Kate Lumpkin, CSA

Kate Lumpkin is the Founder of and Lead Casting Director at Kate Lumpkin Casting, CSA. Collectively, as a casting professional, she has worked on over 40 TV/Film productions and 80 theatrical productions in New York City and across the USA including shows at The Kennedy Center, The Actors Theatre of Louisville, The A.R.T, NYTW and many others. Kate teaches workshops in New York and at numerous Colleges and Universities, is a private coach to clients all around the world, and is the Director of Creative Development for The Broadway Collective. Hillary Smith

director of Student development at THE BROADWAY COLLECTIVE

Hillary Smith is from Carmel, Indiana and attended Florida State University where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre. After spending years performing professionally as an Equity Actress on stages regionally, she began her career as an arts educator and entrepreneur. Hillary spent three years as the After School Director and Co-Head of the Musical Theatre program at Applause New York. She is also a Director/Choreographer who has directed and choreographed over 20 productions for students in New York City and is thrilled to now be on the The Broadway Collective team as the Student Development Director.
